I don’t like this idea of Method. I come from that school, but what I was taught was that it’s your imagination. You do your homework, and you use your imagination. People use the Method as a shield; it shields them from being vulnerable. I hear all these young actors who are like, “I’m Method, I’m gonna go live in the house, you know, I totally get it, I’ve done it, I’ve been there”, but one thing I know is it kills spontaneity. They’ll still give great performances, but they’re not playing with the other actors - it’s all about them. And spontaneity and vulnerability are gold on screen and on stage - they are the fucking magic.

so a lot of people (usually religious homophobes) use the argument “kids don’t need to know about gay people, introducing gay characters into kids’ tv etc is inappropriate because they don’t need to know about sexuality at such a young age”.
this argument would totally hold up except that there are straight relationships in ALMOST EVERYTHING KIDS WATCH. in cartoons, girls like boys and boys like girls. in Disney films, it’s men and women falling in love and getting married. and it’s not about SEXUALITY, it’s about RELATIONSHIPS. when kids see a Disney princess and prince getting married, they don’t think it’s about sex, they think it’s about LOVE. they’d think the exact same if they saw two men getting married, or two women.
plus, y’know, if kids are introduced from a young age to the idea that some people are gay and that’s just how the world is, they’re not going to be homophobic. kids find the idea of gay people VERY EASY to accept, because it’s not a difficult concept. and when they grow up they’re going to be like “hey, this is just how life works, no need to be a dick about any of it!”. even if you think that being gay is awful and unnatural, you can’t deny that it EXISTS. by teaching kids that it’s wrong, literally all you’re doing is inspiring hate, because you KNOW you’re never going to rid the world of gay people, you’re just going to nurture a lovely, hateful little homophobe. pretty sure that most religions are quite strongly against spreading hate.
